Most of my posts about technology are negative and show the different consequences that come with them. However, social media isn't all bad. Sports has been greatly impacted by social media. Fantasy football has brought people closer to games than ever before. Now, not only are you rooting for your team but also rooting for different players on other teams which puts a greater relationship between players and fans. Teams social media accounts are great for getting to know the players and the team more. They also keep updates of the games and post highlight videos for those who might not be able to watch it live. followers get to see them in the locker room, hear their speeches they give to each other to hype them up for the game. This builds a stronger and more emotional relationship for followers. If users are lucky, one of our favorite players might event like a comment we post or comment back to us, making us feel closer to the game. Fans can follow their favorite athletes and h
Privacy  While watching these ted talks my anxiety about technology went through the roof. I obviously know about privacy issues and how it is like a tattoo. However, the revenge porn video scared me the most. It's not as if she sent someone these pictures, they were taken while she was asleep. It's crazy to think how this could happen to anyone and their lives could be turned upside down in seconds all with the click of a button. Privacy is a serious issue and I dont think we will ever get a sense of privacy back. It's only going to get worse. The license plate readers everywhere, recording our locations, for what ? These people aren't breaking the law. Our data is stolen and harvested and sometimes I realize honestly we do it to ourselves. We agree to the terms and conditions. Yes, these companies should not be allowed to harvest our information but we technically let them. It is a tricky situation. No one wants their data stolen, and used for who knows what but als
Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc are all examples of streaming services that are a major threat to cable.Cord cutting is the process of getting rid of cable services that are extremely expensive and buying cheaper streaming ads online. These different cites usually dont  have commercials and every episode and season is available. These streaming serves are no more than $15 a month, with cable being upwards of $100 a month. Streaming services are available at any time of the day, it might not be possible to watch what you want to watch on cable tv on demand because it might not be free 69% of people pay for streaming services, while 65% of people pay for cable services. Younger generation, those aged from 22-35, of those 88% pay for streaming cites while only 51% have cable or satellite.Overall , 43% of Americans consumers pay for both streaming and cable services. In 2018, the major pay-television providers lost 2.87 million net customers. One of the few advantages to having cable is t
In 2012, Colin Kaepernick led his team, the San Fransisco 49ers to the superbowl. In 2017 he would be playing his last season as a quarterback by supporting those without a voice. In a preseason same in 2016 Kaepernick sat during the national anthem. Kaepernick tells NFL media. " I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color." At that time the league had responded by saying standing up for the anthem was encouraged but not required. The NFL was initially behind Kaepernick and his form of protesting for unarmed  black men being murdered by police officers and white supremacists. The first regular season game many players on different NFL teams begin to kneel or raise a fist along with Kaepernick. These members would be the early adapters, the ones who were there to support him right away no matter the consequences. Kapernick may never have thought his act during the anthem would begin to stretch towards other s
Last week I deleted my twitter and facebook account. I did it out of impulse because I never really used facebook at all I turned notifications off and hadn't updated my account it almost a year. Twitter I hardly used but would sometimes post a picture on there maybe once a month or every two months. Because I deleted my twitter account I was not expecting to still see pictures that I had tweeted in the past on google when I searched my name. When you type in my name the first link to it is my twitter account which also displays my bio including where I go to school and the city im from. However, once you click on the link it says sorry page not found. Why have the link still there in the first place? This is really strange to me because why have the top link for something if it doesn't even exist anymore? When you scroll down more my facebook page shows up and when you click it, it says page not found. Linked in links then pop up including my mothers. My youtube account com
Invention of the Television. There were three men who contributes to inventing the first television. Philo Farnsworth, Charles Francis Jenkins, John Logie Baird. Farnsworth was the one who was able to create the first television signal, while Jenkins and Baird were the engineers behind it. June of  1927 the first broadcast was aired. However, Televisions were not sold to the public until 10 years later. Now, television controls are lives, we schedule our days around getting home to watch the new episode of our favorite show, we buy products from the show etc. There are positives and negatives to this though. We're able to bond with others based on same show preferences, we learn from documentaries or other informational shows or movies. However, we're addicted to these shows, we spend hours and hours watching and it can make us antisocial. Crime and sex becomes normalized since we see it so often now. Studies found out that before a child reaches their 18th birthday they wi
The Systems Are Failing In this video we follow a little boy surrounded by adults on their phone. We see how angry people can get, how fake, how depressed etc. The little boy wants attention from people and tries to pull them off their phones constantly. Theres a birds eye view shot of thousands of people on their knees worshipping something ahead and then we see it's depicted to be Kim Kardashian. Young girls worship this women, someone who is completely fake in more ways than one and view her like a god. The scene that is the most eye opening starts with a video of a girl dancing posted all over the internet. The title stating how she was a bad dancer, then cut to her standing on the ledge of a building. Below her, countless people recording it all on their phones and then follow her fall all the way to the ground right in front of them.Immediately, they all move on and walk away and the boy is left standing there with a tear in his eye. This stands out the most because insta
